Updates from the Fox Den

Boy howdy it's been a minute since I wrote a blog post. I feel like there is so much to go over since my last one, but let's take a minute. You doing okay? Have you remembered to drink water? Unclench your jaw a little? Corrected your shrimp posture? (guilty as charged here) Some things have changed since my last post. Biggest thing is: WE MOVED! We are now located in a cute little cottagey looking house in Mount Vernon. We're pretty close to the fairgrounds, and not too far by car or transit to downtown MV (or a 20ish minute walk if you're feeling adventurous) We have some new artists at the shop! That brings us up to 9 tattoo artists here! Wow wow so many rad people to choose from! (You can check them all out on the shop Insta Instagram ) Ren/Bright Bone hits hard with their black and gray subjects; bones, flowers, skulls, bugs, more bones, swords? It's peak! Allyson/Littlest Big Top is a clown cutie with a gory side. From silly and whimsical to guts and horror, he's got you covered!

On a personal note, I did have a pretty irregular schedule for the first half of this year. Without too much detail; my senior cat Dmitri was put down right before Halloween last year. My dad was diagnosed with skin cancer in February and had surgery for it. My mom had emergency gallbladder removal surgery a few weeks later in March. My grandma was hospitalized in April and passed away in May. I had plans to go to the APP conference in June but felt like I needed to not take another week off, even if it would have been beneficial.

I felt like I let a lot of you down during that time, by not being available or being unreliable in my communications and scheduling. I do apologize for that, and hope things have gotten better as the months have gone on.

The move! Let's talk about that next. The Mirkwood building went up for sale, and we decided that it was a great time to find a new space since we weren't sure if the new owners would enjoy a tattoo/piercing shop (sometimes landlords are weird about that kinda thing) Sav found this building on Blackburn Road. She signed the lease in...June I think? We started working on the new space on days off, weekends, after work! Our last day in the Mirk basement was 7/25, and our first day open in MV was 8/1. A VERY quick move, but we made it work. We're still adding the final polishing touches, but it looks better every day :) Each artist either has a room or shares a room with another artist, and we all got to decorate our rooms as we wanted to. Next time you're in, do a little walk through! It's really awesome to see everyone's personal touch on their workspace.

I'll probably make a longer blog post about this later, but the quick down and dirty of it is: Times are hard. Everything is insanely expensive. Life feels unstable. Piercings and tattoos aren't a priority or treat like they used to be, and that's okay!

I'm not mad if you can't come in for a piercing, if you can't downsize on time* (*you can always bring me all of your threadless backs and I can see what I can do with what you have to save you ~$20), if you can't afford to tip. You can always come in and ask for some cards to hand out, leave a Google review, engage on social media with me (/any of your artists! It helps more than you think!)

I think that's enough of me blabbing on here. I hope you all are staying safe, staying well, and have so many fall activities planned. - Bree <3
